Understanding General Liability Insurance Coverage
This type of insurance coverage is one of the most common types of business insurance and is considered the building block of insurance for most businesses because of its broad coverage and protection from claims of bodily injury and property damage.
What is Covered Under General Liability Insurance?
It provides coverage for claims of bodily injury or property damage that occurs from your laxity in operations, work, or product. This type of coverage can also protect your business from claims on the topic of libel, defamation, slander, copyright infringement, and trademark violations. Your policy may also include medical coverage of small injury claims regardless of fault and property damage caused by fire and other hazards
Keep in mind, however, that general liability insurance does not cover all instances for which your company might be sued. For example, a claim related to pollution is not covered under General Liability Insurance because that claim is related to the use of vehicles. Professional liability or malpractice is never covered under General Liability and needs to be purchased separately. Finally, General Liability Coverage does not take care of damage to property or others in your care.
